Beaded Dragonflies

DragonFlyPins (8)Several weeks ago I bought some vintage Japanese pearls that were purportedly from the 1970s. Someone was cleaning out their mother’s beading supplies after she had passed and had a bulk quantity of various types and styles of beads. Now, I love working with pearls and crystals so I decided to buy some and use them on a couple of projects. One in particular was introduced to me by my granddaughter who was staying the summer with us. She watched a You-Tube video on my computer that I had downloaded last year but never got around to viewing yet. After several viewings she made a very nice dragonfly that she wanted to attached to a pin back and give to her mom. So, we got to work experimenting with colors, shapes and sizes of beads and produced about 15 different ones. Some we made into broaches and others she made into key chain charms. When I posted the pictures online a cousin wanted one immediately so we mailed it off. Then I posted a couple online to sell and my granddaughter gave the rest away to her friends at a birthday party.

These inspired me to make earrings. But the beads we used for the broaches and key chain charms were too big. I dug out my box of seed beads and got to work. Below are just a few of the ones we have made over the last couple of weeks. I have given away a few pair and posted the rest for sale on our Handmade Amazon store this morning. Next I will try my hand at making some of my own beaded dragonfly key chain charms.
