Crocheting
has been around for a long time. We are just giving you the beginners information here so if you want or need more information you can get it from one of the books or DVDs on Amazon or even visit Youtube and use Learn to Crochet as a search term.
From wiki we learn that: “Crochet is a process of creating fabric from yarn, thread, or other material strands using a crochet hook. The word is derived from the French word “crochet”, meaning hook. Hooks can be made of materials such as metals, wood, or plastic and are commercially manufactured as well as produced by artisans. Crocheting, like knitting, consists of pulling loops through other loops, but additionally incorporates wrapping the working material around the hook one or more times.” And historically, “Lis Paludan theorizes that crochet evolved from traditional practices in Arabia, South America, or China, but there is no decisive evidence of the craft being performed before its popularity in Europe during the 19th century”.
All you need to start any crocheting project is a crochet needle, crochet thread or yarn, and a pair of scissors. There are lots of places to learn how to crochet including books, videos, and watching someone else how they do it. If you don’t have someone who can teach you we have found a great beginner’s lesson written out step-by-step for you to give it a try. http://learnthis.org/crochet.php
